THE NINE-MOVEMENT CANTATA SEALED ANGEL was written by Rodion Shchedrin (b. 1932) to celebrate the millennium of the conversion of Russia to Christianity in 1988. This lovely melodic work takes its title from a wellknown short story by Nikolai Leskov.
