Michel Onfray & Eric Tanguy: Conversations & concert
One of France’s most well-known philosophers, Michel Onfray, visits Turku on March 6th attending an event jointly organized by the Turku Music Festival and the Turku University.
Michel Onfray (b. 1959) is a French philosopher and writer and his works have been translated into 30 different languages. After 20 years of teaching in the French university system, he founded the Université populaire de Caen. His work focuses on societal questions especially in relation to religion and economy. His latest book ”Grandeur du petit peuple. Heurs et malheurs des Gilets jaunes” has just been released in January 2020 (Éd. Alban Michel).
At the Turku School of Economics, Michel Onfray discusses (in French) music and philosphy and their role in society with his friend, composer Eric Tanguy. The conversation open to public is followed by a concert including a piece composed by Eric Tanguy on Michel Onfray’s text. Other works are by Saariaho, Sibelius and Debussy.
A similar event is organised on March 4th at the Embassy of Finland in Paris, as part of the Festival’s internationalisation strategy. The event is organised in collaboration with the City of Turku, Visit Turku, Business Finland and the Embassy of Finland in France.
