“We wish to support emerging young artists.”
– Päivi Lipponen
THE YEAR 2016 MARKS THE 400TH ANNIVERSARY of the death of William Shakespeare. This recital is an exploration of Shakespeare’s world through poetry, song and opera. The programme includes the world premiere of Mikko Heiniö’s Three Morning Songs for baritone and piano, a virtuoso piece setting brilliant, wild poems by Juha Siltanen.
The concert will be introduced by Päivi Lipponen.
The Päivi and Paavo Lipponen Fund supports young visual artists and singers. The Fund annually adds to a collection of works by young artists deposited at the Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma in Helsinki. The Fund also nominates a Soloist of the Year and sponsors a début recital for him or her. The Fund is associated with the People’s Cultural Foundation.
