Bass MARKUS SUIHKONEN studied the cello for 15 years before beginning voice studies with Petteri Salomaa, Jaakko Ryhänen and Mika Kares at the Sibelius Academy. Having won the Timo Mustakallio Singing Competition in 2015, he has appeared at the Finnish National Opera in several roles, including Mozart’s Figaro and Leporello.
In the 2017–2018, Suihkonen appeared in productions at the Vlaamse Opera in Belgium, e.g. as Pistola in Falstaff, Titurel in Parsifal and Publio in La clemenza di Tito. He has been a member of the Bavarian State Opera studio since 2018, appearing as Lesbo in Agrippina and Herold in Otello, among others. He has also appeared as a concert soloist with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra.
