JUHO POHJONEN began his piano studies in the Junior Department of the Sibelius Academy in 1989 and completed a Master of Music degree in 2008, having studied with Meri Louhos and Hui-Ying Liu. He has achieved success in competitions, including winning the Young Artists’ Concerto Competition in Stockholm in 2000, winning the Nyborg Nordic Piano Competition in 2004 and receiving a prize in the Maj Lind Piano Competition in 2002. He has appeared with distinguished orchestras in Europe, Asia and North America and given recitals at Carnegie Hall and the Lincoln Center in New York and at Wigmore Hall in London. Highlights of the 2018–2019 season included performances of Mozart’s Piano Concerto in A major KV 488 with the Nashville, Bay Atlantic and Pacific Symphony Orchestras. In the 2019–2020, he makes his début with the Minnesota Orchestra, performing Grieg’s Piano Concerto with Osmo Vänskä.
