Norwegian violinist ELISE BÅTNES has been 1st Leader of the Oslo Philharmonic since 2008, having made her début as a soloist with the orchestra much earlier, at the age of 10, under Mariss Jansons. She has also been leader of the Orchestra of WDR Cologne and the Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra, besides appearing as guest leader in several other European orchestras.
Elise Båtnes has won the Spellemannprisen in Norway for her recordings with the Vertavo String Quartet, and she is a winner of the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition. She is a Professor at the Norwegian Academy of Music. Elise Båtnes plays the ‘Arditi’ Stradivarius (1689) on permanent loan to her from Dextra Musica Norway.
