ULI KONTU-KORHONEN, known for her bright soprano voice, graduated with a M.Mus. degree from the Sibelius Academy and has studied early music further at masterclasses given by Evelyn Tubb, Michael Fields, Stephen Stubbs, Suzie LeBlanc and members of the Hilliard Ensemble. She has been a soloist with the Medieval music ensemble Oliphant since 1997, during which time they have released the critically acclaimed discs Lauluja ristiretkiltä [Songs from the Crusades] (2000) and Joie fine (2006). Her solo album Praemia lucis – valon lahja (2008) contains music by Hildegard of Bingen and hymns and folk songs in Finnish.
Uli Kontu-Korhonen teaches early music at the Turku Music Academy. In addition to performing Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque music, she has appeared with jazz and folk musicians and performed contemporary music.
