Marko Hilpo

MARKO HILPO (b. 1983) is one of Finland’s most wide-ranging pianists. He studied with Hamsa Al-Wadi Juris and Ilmo Ranta at the Sibelius Academy and with Professor Dmitri Bashkirov and Claudio Martinez Mehner at the Reina Sofia School of Music in Madrid. He has won prizes in several international competitions and has appeared in solo recitals, Lied recitals and chamber music performances around the world, besides performing as a soloist with Finnish orchestras and at international music festivals.

Hilpo is also an accomplished arranger and orchestrator equally adept with popular and classical music. He has arranged several major orchestral works for chamber ensemble and written arrangements for the theatre (e.g. for a production of Myrskyluodon Maija at the Helsinki City Theatre), and his orchestrations have been performed by the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Helsinki Philharmonic, the Turku Philharmonic and the Oulu Sinfonia.
