Born in Kotka, violinist ESSI HÖGLUND (b. 1997) has performed as soloist with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Helsinki Philharmonic and the Orchestra, Kammerphilharmonie Bad Nauheim, Royal de Chamber de Wallonie, as a chamber musician at several festivals (including being Young Artist of the Year at the Helsinki Chamber Music Festival in 2018) and as leader and principal with some of Finland’s leading orchestras. She began her studies with Merle Kaadu at the Kotka Region Music Institute and went on to study with Réka Szilvay at the Junior Department of the Sibelius Academy and with Tero Latvala in the master’s-degree programme at the same institution. She has also done well in competitions (2nd prize in the 2020 Kuopio violin competition, Young Musician competition in Tallinn, Jyväskylä Violin Competition).
