Krista Ahonen appointed as the new position of event production and sales manager of the Turku Music Festival. Ahonen started in this new position February 1st 2021.
The Turku Music Festival has created a new position, event production and sales manager, and has appointed Krista Ahonen M.Sc.(Econ.) to this position. Ahonen was formerly employed at the Turku Fair and Congress Center and was in charge of a variety of trade fair projects with responsibility not only for financial performance but also for partnerships, development and marketing. She now brings her extensive experience in business and sales to the Turku Music Festival, taking up her new appointment on 1 February 2021.
The job description of the new event production and sales manager includes producing and developing Festival events and services, managing sales and marketing for them, managing corporate partnerships and sponsorships, and increasing visibility of the Festival and the attractiveness of the Turku region.
The Turku Music Festival is undergoing further personnel changes in that managing director Liisa Ketomäki is on family leave as of 18 January 2021 and is substituted by Maija Palonheimo, who has occupied various managerial roles in cultural organisations for 30 years. Among her other duties, she was chairman of the Board of Directors of the Turku Music Festival Foundation for 12 years.

The Turku Music Festival Foundation is firmly oriented towards the future, however, with the aim of making our operations stronger and better than ever. Krista Ahonen is a top-notch professional in her field, and she will be working with the managing director and the artistic director to take the Festival forward,” says Maija Palonheimo, interim managing director of the Turku Music Festival.”
The artistic director of the Turku Music Festival is conductor Klaus Mäkelä.
