Once again Turku Music Festival presents a leading soprano acknowledged all over the world. The Latvian soprano Kristine Opolais performs with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra and conductor Hannu Lintu. The evening consists of arias dear to Opolais and great classics combined with Finnish contemporary music.

This unique evening is filled with arias from Puccini’s Madama Butterfly to Boito’s Mefistofele. In addition Opolais has chosen arias from her upcoming roles such as Desdemona from Verdi’s Otello, Élisabeth from Don Carlos, Liù from Puccini’s Turandot and the title role in La Wally by Catalani. All the operas mentioned have an exceptional and versatile women character. Together with RSO they present a firework of orchestral music and greatest arias from opera literature.

Kristine Opolais is one of today’s greatest sopranos and she performs regularly in leading opera houses in the world. Before August she sings the role of Madame Butterfly in Vienna State Opera spring 2018 and debuts the role of Elsa in Lohengrin opera in Covent Garden. The past season she amazed all in Met Opera’s Rusalka. She works regularly with leading conductors such as Andris Nelsons, Daniel Barenboim, Antonio Pappano, Sir Simon Rattle and Daniel Harding.
