Jakub Józef Orliński
Countertenor Jakub Józef Orliński has been praised for both his vocal quality and his dramatic skills. Having studied with Anna Radziejewska, Eytan Pessen and Matthias Rexroth in his native Poland, he completed a diploma with Edith Wiens at Juilliard. His success at the international Marcella Sembrich competition in 2015 and in the National Council programme of the Metropolitan Opera in 2016 paved the way to top-notch engagements in Handel operas: the title role in Rinaldo at the Frankfurt Opera and Eustazio at the Glyndebourne Festival, and Unulfo in Rodelinda in Frankfurt and at the Lille Opera. He has appeared as soloist in Handel’s Messiah at Carnegie Hall with both Musica Sacra and the Oratorio Society of New York. His début disc was ‘Anima Sacra’ with Il pomo d’oro under Maxim Emelyanychev, released in autumn 2018.
