Biagio Pizzuti

Italian baritone BIAGIO PIZZUTI was born in Salerno in 1987 and began studying the piano at the age of eight. Having completed piano and voice diplomas with the highest marks at the Salerno Conservatory, he went on to study voice with Renata Scotto at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, among others. Having won 1st prize in the As.Li.Co, Magda Olivero and Toti dal Monte competitions in Italy, he has been engaged in major opera roles around Europe: Leporello in Don Giovanni in Maribor and Basel and the title role in Ferrara; Guglielmo in Così fan tutte in Liverpool; Don Prudenzio in Il viaggio a Reims in Amsterdam, Schaunard in La bohème in Naples and Verona; and Belcore in L’elisir d’amore at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in Florence. Pizzuti also sang the role of Elviro in a recording of Serse released on Deutsche Grammophon and the role of Lesbo in Agrippina in a forthcoming recording with Joyce DiDonato, Luca Pisaroni and Franco Fagioli.
